An increase in the international traffic at Warsaw Chopin Airport

Behind us there is another, very good period in the history of Warsaw Chopin Airport. In the first quarter of 2018, the Warsaw airport has handled 3.4 million passengers. Compared to the same period of last year, this is a 15% increase (from January to March 2017 less than 3 million people used the airport). In March, around 1.2 million travelers were handled at Warsaw Chopin Airport. Since the beginning of the year, over 3 million people were carried in the international traffic (an increase of 20%), and 373 thousand in domestic traffic. These data show, among others, that the position of the Warsaw airport as an attractive transfer point in this part of Europe is constantly increasing.

According to the forecast, the positive trend should persist in the coming months. In the summer season, until July 2018, Warsaw Chopin Airport will have eight new regular routes (122 altogether) - to Bordeaux (Wizz Air), as well as Nuremberg, Kaunas, Skopje, Hanover, Zaporizhia, Singapore and Dubrovnik. The last seven new routes will be offered by LOT and will provide convenient transfers on all of its network available from Warsaw Chopin Airport.

There will also be nine new charter flights (total of 77): Djerba, Limnos, Gazipasa, Constanţa, Monastyr, Ohrid, Pisa, Reus and Seville.

- Warsaw Chopin Airport does not slow down the pace of development. Our airport is consistently strengthening its position as a leader in the region - says Hubert Wojciechowski, Director of Marketing and PR Office at Warsaw Chopin Airport. - In the period January-March, the number of passengers handled has increased by nearly 15 percent compared to 2017, and the share of transit passengers is approaching 30 percent. This confirms the dynamically growing transfer potential of the Central and Eastern Europe region and the need to build a large hub in this part of Europe - adds Hubert Wojciechowski.
