Charity Partnerships (archive)

At Routes we are proud to demonstrate our social responsibility through our commitment to corporate-led charity fundraising. We recognise the importance of building connections with our host teams, the community and empowering each event in ways to support the environment.

Alder Hey Children's Charity 2019-2020

Since 2019 we have partnered with Alder Hey Children’s hospital to raise £35,000 to build a 4D immersive distraction treatment room to enhance the experience for children during life-changing scans. The Routes team have pulled together and are well on their way to achieving this huge target. The activities carried out by the team include cake bake sales, running marathons, squash tournaments and open-water swimming. To follow our activities please visit our fundraising page.

‘Our partnership with Routes isn’t just about raising money. It is about a relationship and a friendship that has grown over the past year. The team are dedicated and committed to reaching the target and we cannot wait for them to achieve their goal. We at Alder Hey cannot express the impact you will make on the hospital, the children and their families. Thank you!’

Walk the World 2019

The idea behind Walk the World is simple. Each year Informa colleagues from all over the world get the opportunity to spend time together away from the office, take part in a walk and raise money for a local cause that matters to them. While the basic concept is the same all over the world, every location has its own charity and walk. The Manchester team took part in a 16km picturesque walk around south Manchester to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s hospital. The sun was shining and everyone completed the walk without anyone getting lost or falling into Manchester’s famous canal.

Host Charity Partnership - Royal Flying Doctor Service

At World Routes in Adelaide we had a great partnership with The Flying Doctors. The Royal Flying Doctor Service is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world, providing extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency services to people over an area of 7.69 million square kilometres. The charity showcased their latest simulator on-site at the event for over 3,000 delegates to see. After the event we offered all Informa staff members the opportunity to volunteer at a workshop to increase their knowledge and input new ideas.

Milan, host of World Routes 2020 - donated food from the Handover Ceremony in Adelaide

Milan wanted to ensure that any left-over food from the Handover Ceremony didn’t go to waste and was donated to a local charity that could make good use of the unwanted food. The food was donated to local organisation The Hutt St Centre, a homeless charity which sells clothes from a renovated bus.

Thinking outside the box

We are always trying to look at different ways to add value to our events and also give back to local charities. In Adelaide the Routes team also worked with The Hutt St Centre by transforming the charity's bus into our very own cloakroom for the event and donating over £2,500 to the charity. In addition we donated left-over delegate bags, stationery and t-shirts.

‘Thank you to all involved at World Routes 2019 for these donations which will help a large amount of people who are living on the streets to gain food, education and clothing. It was a pleasure to work with the Informa team.’

Volunteer programme

At all our events we try to give back to the local community. We provided the opportunity for students to gain experience on-site and assist us throughout the event. This ranged from welcoming delegates with information at their hotels and assisting at event registration, to giving directions to delegates around the event venue. Their work is vital in making our event a success, and in return we provide a proof of work letter to add to their CV.

Manchester volunteering week

Each year Informa provides everyone with four volunteer days. This is a great way of getting out the office and giving back to the local area plus also seeing the team in a different light. The attendance rate has increased year on year and proves to be a popular week in the busy Routes calendar. The team organised a week full of volunteering activities at organisations including Barnabus, Manchester Dog Shelter, FareShare Food Bank, Mission Christmas, Key103 Cash for Kids, plus many more.

Routes Africa 2018 - volunteering in Ghana

After Routes Africa in Ghana some of the team volunteered at Basics International which is a charity that provides schooling for children. The team spent the day helping provide vital English and Maths skills plus playing games in the school yard. These children are less fortunate and to see the happiness this brought was an excellent experience for the team.
