Charity Partnerships

At Routes we are proud to demonstrate our social responsibility through our commitment to corporate-led charity fundraising. We recognise the importance of building connections with our host teams, the community and empowering each event in ways to support the environment.

Alder Hey Children's Charity

Since 2019 we have partnered with Alder Hey Children’s hospital to raise £35,000 to build a 4D immersive distraction treatment room to enhance the experience of children undergoing life-changing scans.

The Routes team have pulled together and are well on their way to achieving this huge target. The activities carried out by the team include cake bake sales, running marathons, squash tournaments and open-water swimming. To follow our activities please visit our fundraising page.

Walk the World 2020

Each year Informa colleagues from all over the world get the opportunity to spend time together away from the office, take part in a walk and raise money for a local cause that matters to them.

Walk the World is a vital fundraising opportunity for the Routes team to support Alder Hey Children's Charity. This year, due to the COVID-19 crisis, Walk the World looked a little different and the team took part in a series of socially distant walks in small groups.

COVID-19 has made it very difficult for Alder Hey and their fundraising partners to carry out many of the activities that were planned for this year, which has resulted in the charity being short of vital income. Please visit our fundraising page if you would like to find out more information about how we are supporting the charity through this time.

‘Our partnership with Routes isn’t just about raising money. It is about a relationship and a friendship that has grown over the past year. The team are dedicated and committed to reaching the target and we cannot wait for them to achieve their goal. We at Alder Hey cannot express the impact you will make on the hospital, the children and their families. Thank you!’

Royal Flying Doctor Service

Flying Doctors 450x300

At World Routes 2019 we had a host charity partnership with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. The organisation provides extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency services to people over an area of 7.69 million square kilometres.

The charity showcased their latest simulator on-site at the event for over 3,000 delegates to see. After the event we offered all Informa staff members the opportunity to volunteer at a workshop to increase their knowledge and input new ideas.

Hutt St Centre

Dulcie Bus 450x300

Milan, host of World Routes 2020, donated food from the Handover Ceremony in Adelaide to a charity that could make good use of the unwanted food. The food was donated to local organisation The Hutt St Centre, a homeless charity which sells clothes from a renovated bus.

In Adelaide the Routes team also worked with the Hutt St Centre by transforming the bus into our very own cloakroom for the event and donating over £2,500 to the charity. In addition we donated left-over delegate bags, stationery and t-shirts.

‘Thank you to all involved at World Routes 2019 for these donations which will help a large amount of people who are living on the streets to gain food, education and clothing. It was a pleasure to work with the Informa team.’

Event volunteer programmes

Volunteers 450x300

At all our events we try to give back to the local community. We provide the opportunity for students to gain experience on-site and assist us throughout each event. This ranges from welcoming delegates with information at their hotels and assisting at event registration, to giving directions in the event venue. Their work is vital in making our events a success, and in return we provide a proof of work letter to add to their CV.

Manchester volunteering week

Barnabus 450x300

Each year Informa allocates four volunteer days to employees. This is a great way of getting out the office and giving back locally while seeing the team in a different light. The attendance rate has increased year on year and proves to be a popular week in the busy Routes calendar. In 2019 the team volunteered at organisations including Barnabus, Manchester Dog Shelter, FareShare Food Bank, Mission Christmas, Key103 Cash for Kids and many more.

Volunteering in Ghana

Ghana 450x300

Following Routes Africa 2018 some of the team volunteered at Basics International which is a charity that provides schooling for children. The team spent the day helping provide vital English and Maths skills plus playing games in the school yard. The opportunity was a highly rewarding experience for the team.
