Message From The Governor
On behalf of the entire state of Indiana, we look forward to welcoming you to Routes Americas 2020 in our vibrant capital city of Indianapolis.
We are excited to host such an important group of professionals in aviation dedicated to connecting our cities throughout the Americas. Our reputation is built on hospitality, and we are known for extending a warm and friendly welcome to more than 28 million visitors from around the globe each year.
You’ll arrive at the top-ranked airport in North America six years running. The Indianapolis International Airport (IND) is an international gateway to Central Indiana, generating an annual economic impact of more than $5.4 billion and serving nearly 9 million business and leisure travelers each year with 145 daily flights to 50 nonstop destinations.
With increased airlift since 2014, IND has expanded West Coast connectivity, launched the state’s first transatlantic flight, and welcomed several new airlines. We continue to work toward expanding nonstop domestic and international routes, with $20 million in support pledged from the State of Indiana to invest in more international nonstop flights.
Our signature hospitality, top ranked airport, and unmatched convention experience are among the reasons Indianapolis has been named USA Today’s “#1 Convention City in the U.S.” I am confident the Indianapolis International Airport, Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Visit Indy, and JW Marriott will provide a dynamic and supportive environment for senior airline decision makers to evaluate new market and expansion opportunities.
From life sciences and tech to agribusiness and motorsports, this is a city and state with momentum. We are proud to be first in the nation for our manufacturing workforce; a leader in life sciences, agribusiness, and technology; and one of the Top 5 U.S. States for Business according to Chief Executive. Our infrastructure, tax advantages, low cost of doing business, and balanced budget create a climate for business growth. Indiana is a “State that Works,” and Indianapolis is truly a city on the move.
We look forward to welcoming you in 2020.
State of Indiana
