The Latest News Ahead of Routes Americas in Cartagena

This year’s event will see the strongest airline list ever assembled at Routes Americas, the only networking forum for the entire Americas region. In the last week alone, LATAM, Air Transat and Air China have registered to attend the event bringing the total number of attending delegates to 80 representing over 65 carriers.

For the first time at Routes Americas the top 20 scheduled carriers in the Americas will all be in attendance. All four US network carriers; US Airways, American Airlines, United Airlines (who attended the event for the first time last year) and the world’s largest airline, Delta Air Lines, have already confirmed that they will be in Colombia for the event along with the top low-cost carriers in the US (JetBlue, Southwest, and Spirit).

From Latin America AviancaTaca, COPA Airlines, GOL and, most recently LATAM all have confirmed attendance, whilst from Europe, Condor, Norwegian and Turkish Airlines will be present. Click here for the complete and most up to date list of attending airlines.

With the recent addition of Condor Airlines to the Route Exchange Briefings Programme in Cartagena the total number of Briefings is up to five. These ever popular briefings, given by senior network planners, are an opportunity for attending airports to gain an overview of the carriers, allowing them to view, first-hand, what information the airline requires from the airports when making route proposals. Other briefings taking place will come from Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, Delta Air Lines and WestJet, who will also detail plans for the airline’s new subsidiary carrier, WestJet Encore.

Places are limited and airport delegates should contact Kirsty Studholme, Scheduling Manager for Routes Americas to add briefings to your diary of pre-scheduled meetings.

Over 130 airport delegates representing 165 airports have also registered to attend the event to date. During the last week new registrations have been received from a number airports and tourism authorities including Juan Santamaria International Airport - San Jose, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), Barbados Tourism Authority, OMA-Mexico/Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte, Rome FCO Airport and Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board.

In addition to the face-to-face meetings taking place at the core of the event the Routes Americas Strategy Summit, which will open the event on the afternoon of Sunday 10thFebruary, is open to all attending delegates. Recent additions to the programme of senior industry speakers, which can be found here, include Kemp Harker, Managing Director, Latin America, Africa, & Caribbean for Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Zhihang Chi, Vice President & General Manager, North America for Air China.

With delegate figures rising all the time, this event is not to be missed by those wishing to discuss route development across the entire Americas region, for more information and to register your place click here.
