Routes Africa to Open with Aerobatics Spectacular!

On Sunday 7thJuly at 11:30, this year’s Routes Africa event will be opened by Captain Howard Davenport, with a special 15 minute demonstration of his aerobatic flying skills. Howard Davenport also known as “The Texas Twister” has been flying since the age of 16 and has over 40 years experience with a range of aviation professions from pipeline patrol, prisoner transport, bush pilot and pilot examiner to name but a few. Captain Davenport will perform an exclusive opening ceremony which can be viewed from the stunning lake shore lawns of the Speke Resort Hotel.

The 15 minute spectacle will include many stunts and will also include his trademark inverted ribbon cut over Lake Victoria in his own Super Chipmunk, N61957. Howard is the first and currently only pilot in the whole of East Africa to hold authorisation from the Uganda CAA to perform aerobatics from the surface up and the first ever pilot to perform the inverted ribbon cut over open water on the African continent, making this a truly unique and special opening to what promises to be a productive and enjoyable event.
