US carrier Frontier Airlines has announced it will expand its low-fare service at Trenton-Mercer Airport, in Ewing, N.J., with the addition of non-stop flights to Milwaukee, Wis., Minneapolis, Minn. and St. Louis, Mo. from June 13, 2014.

Frontier is the only airline providing scheduled service out of Trenton-Mercer Airport, a gateway to New Jersey’s state capital, all of central New Jersey, and Southeast Pennsylvania, including metro Philadelphia. It launched flights from the facility in November 2012 and currently operates 48 weekly departures offering 13,248 seats in and out of the airport.

“It’s great to be expanding our service again from Trenton-Mercer Airport where we’ll now serve 17 different destinations,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president, commercial, Frontier Airlines. These comprise: Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago-Midway, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Nashville, Orlando, Raleigh-Durham, Tampa, St. Augustine / Jacksonville and St. Louis.

“Never before in its history has Trenton-Mercer Airport offered this number and variety of destinations, and we are thrilled with Frontier’s plan to further expand its network of destinations by adding St. Louis, Milwaukee and Minneapolis,” said Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes.

The airline will offer four flights per week to Minneapolis, while Milwaukee and St. Louis will be served on a three times weekly basis. All three routes will be flown using 138-seat Airbus A319s.

The new St. Louis link from Trenton is just part of a planned network growth at the city that will see non-stop service by Frontier grow to ten destinations with a new route to San Francisco, Calif. (SFO) commencing on June 13, 2014, and flights to Portland, Ore. (PDX) starting on June 15, 2014; both markets will be served three times weekly using an A320. Through its partnership with Apple Vacations, Frontier already offers service to Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, Huatulco, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Montego Bay, Jamaica from the city.

“Frontier’s expansion of flights from St. Louis really addresses two top targets of service for this Airport with a new non-stop destination to Portland, Ore., and additional service to San Francisco,” said Lambert Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge. “Trenton is also a new non-stop market and we believe it will be very attractive for both business and leisure travelers who want more price-conscious options to reach numerous destinations between New York City and Philadelphia.”
