ROUTES AMERICAS: Caribbean Airlines Hopes to Boost Connectivity into Central America

Caribbean Airlines is looking to enhance its connectivity to markets across Central America, chief executive officer, Captain Jagmohan Singh confirmed to The HUB during an exclusive video interview following his panel session at this year’s Routes Americas Strategy Summit in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Although a glance at a map would suggest the distances may not appear significant, journeys between the South East Caribbean and Central America can take as long as 12 hours due to the limited connectivity between the two regions. “We are very interested in Central America,” explained Captain Singh. “In the region we are looking to strengthen our position as we don’t connect well currently with the Spanish speaking Caribbean.”

The carrier’s home market has suffered like the rest of the world due to the downturn of the global economy, but over recent years there has remained a growing demand from Central America. “We want to take advantage of that by providing connectivity and introducing them to the Caribbean,” said Captain Singh.
