ROUTES AMERICAS: LAN Colombia Spies International Growth Opportunities

LAN Colombia has plans to further expand its network across North America and the Caribbean after successfully inaugurating its first new international flights since it was rebranded from its former name, Aires. The airline, part of the LAN Airlines Group, introduced its first foreign link last year when it resumed flights between to Reina Beatrix International Airport in Oranjestad, Aruba; a destination that had previously been served by Aires. It is now considering a number of destinations for future growth.

In an exclusive video interview with The HUB Daily at Routes Americas in San Salvador, El Salvador, last week, Hernan Pasman, chief executive officer, LAN Colombia and executive director of LAN Airlines Group said: “We opened the Aruba route last year towards the end of the year and we are thinking about opening new routes to and from the United States of America and most probably around the Caribbean.” However, he noted that there are still “significant opportunities” to grow its network in its home Colombian market.
