Lufthansa Adds new Routes to Aalborg and Reykjavik

The Frankfurt – Aalborg route will be operated twice daily using Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft with 90 seats in total, split across Economy and Business Class. It will be the carrier’s third destination into Denmark, after Copenhagen and Billund.

The service will depart from Frankfurt every morning at 8:25am with flight number LH 844 and will arrive in Aalborg at 10:05 am. The afternoon service will depart at 4:10pm as flight LH 846, arriving in Aalborg at 5:50pm. Returning flights will land in Frankfurt at 12:25pm and 8:10pm respectively.

Kay Kratky, member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board, Operations & Hub said the airline is delighted to be able to offer customers non-stop flights from its biggest hub to another two attractive destinations.

"The new service to Aalborg will provide us with access to an important part of northern Denmark, with its numerous businesses and universities. Reykjavík, on the other hand, is an attractive destination for both business and leisure travellers," he said.

Aalborg is Denmark’s fourth largest city, with around 120,000 people, and is situated on the Limfjord, which links the city to the Baltic Sea, around 35 kilometres away. The port city has a strong chemical, metal and textile industry as well as a shipbuilding sector. The region has also become a hub for high-tech engineering in recent years.

The Frankfurt – Reykjavik route will be operated twice weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays, using Airbus A319 aircraft with 139 seats split between Economy and Business Class. The outbound flights will leave Frankfurt in the morning and arrive in Reykjavik at about midday local time as flight LH 856. The inbound flight will leave Reykjavik at 1:30pm and arrive in Frankfurt 7:30pm local time.

“The new connections are timed in such a way that both our customers from Europe and passengers from North America and Asia can transfer comfortably in Frankfurt,” added Kratky.
