Cathay Pacific to Launch Dusseldorf service

The Hong Kong flag carrier has announced its plans to expand its presence in Europe, with a new service to Dusseldorf.

Beginning September 1, 2015 and subject to government approval, the service will operate four-times weekly to Dusseldorf - the international business and financial centre in Germany.

It will become the airline’s second destination in Germany after Frankfurt, and marks the latest enhancement to its Europe network following the launch of its Manchester route which launched in December, and its Zurich route which is due to launch this March.

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Ivan Chu said: "We are very pleased to further expand our European network by launching this new Düsseldorf service, which will help to meet the rising demand for business and leisure travel between Germany and Hong Kong. This latest destination launch also underscores Cathay Pacific's ongoing commitment to building Hong Kong's position as one of the world's great international aviation hubs."

The Dusseldorf service will be operated using the new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, equipped with its new First Class product, as well as its Business Class, and new Premium Economy and long-haul Economy class seats.

Dusseldorf is the capital city of the North Rhine-Westphalia region – Germany’s most popular state, and is the sixth most populous city in Germany.

"We are pleased to offer our customers a second German departure airport. Dusseldorf is a strong business destination and thus, we can provide our customers with a total of eleven weekly flights from Germany, "says Tony Sham, Country Manager Germany, Switzerland and Europe, Cathay Pacific Airways.

The flights will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Hong Kong, departing at 00:50am, arriving into Dusseldorf at 07:15am. The return flight will operate on the same days, departing Dusseldorf at 13:20pm, arriving into Hong Kong at 06:35am (+1 day).

Cathay Pacific currently operates 77 flights a week between Hong Kong and a number of European cities, including London, Manchester, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Rome, Milan and Moscow.
