Etihad to Fly Daily to Tehran

United Arab Emirates (UAE) carrier, Etihad Airways has announced its plans to increase flights between Abu Dhabi and Tehran from three-times-weekly to daily.

The airline will begin daily flights to the Iranian capital from Wednesday April 15, 2015, continuing with its Airbus A320 aircraft.

Services to Tehran by the airline started in December 2006, providing 136 seats each way, though the new service will bring an additional 1,088 new seats per week to the route, allowing passengers more options and greater flexibility.

The new schedule will establish important connections to key markets in the US, including Los Angeles which is home to the world’s largest Iranian population outside of Iran.

Etihad Airways will operate the flight out of Abu Dhabi at 01:30am, to arrive into Tehran at 04:25am. The return flight will depart Tehran at 05:30, arriving into Abu Dhabi at 07:15am.

In addition to the US cities, the Tehran flights will connect with destinations on the airline’s network across the Gulf region, Africa, Asia and Australia.

“The expanded schedule will increase travel options for Iranian passengers visiting the UAE, as well as those wishing to access Etihad Airways’ global flight network, particularly cities like Los Angeles and others in the United States.”

Passengers on all Etihad flights to the US are processed through US preclearance at Abu Dhabi Airport, meaning that passengers flying from Tehran will pass through all of the required checks including US customers, immigration and security.

Etihad’s flights to the US currently include Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York JFK and Washington DC.

The US preclearance process is even faster for passengers who can use the automated passport control (APC) and Global Entry Kiosks, which expedite the US entry process for American, Canadian, and eligible visa waiver program international travellers.
