Wizz Air Announce new Route to Constanta from London Luton

Wizz Air has announced its plans to launch a new direct route between London Luton and Constanta in Romania.

Europe’s largest low-cost airline for Central and Eastern Europe will commence flights between the two cities from June 15, 2015, operating twice weekly.

Wizz Air’s first service from London to Constanta hopes to help stimulate local tourism with UK travellers, who are now able to travel to the popular Black Sea coast.

Wizz Air’s spokesman Daniel de Carvalho said: "With this new Constanta route we aim to stimulate tourism and business relations and allow low fare access to the beautiful Romanian Black Sea coast. In addition, our Romanian customers can avail of another link to the UK capital.”

Flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays, making it ideal for weekend getaways, according to the airline’s spokesman, and will be served using one of Wizz Air’s new Airbus A320 aircraft.

“Our Constanta operation will add to our Romanian offer as we aim to continue to be the airline of choice for Romanian consumers and their visitors,” added Carvalho.

With the new service between London Luton and Constanta, Wizz Air is now offering a total of 96 routes to 16 countries from nine airports in Romania.

This is also the 14th new route to be announced from London Luton this year and the third from Wizz Air, the second largest carrier at the Airport.

Meanwhile, Wizz Air has announced it is reducing its Ukraine services, while discontinuing its Ukrainian subsidiary entirely. Wizz will still base one Airbus A320 in Kiev, which will serve eight routes from the city.

The second A320 aircraft, currently based in Kiev, will be moved to Kosice in Slovakia to operate services to routes including Sheffield-Doncaster from early June.

In total, ten international routes will be discontinued by April 20, 2015, and Wizz Air Hungary will continue to operate the remaining eight routes in and out of Ukraine.
