European low-cost carrier easyJet is expanding its flight program from Vienna with a total of five additional destinations by the winter 2015 season.

The airline plans to introduce new services to London Luton, Berlin Schönefeld, Manchester, Amsterdam and Bristol – the latter of which will be a brand new destination for Vienna Airport.

Business and private travelers will thus have an even greater choice, which in turn strengthens Austria as a business and tourism location as well as the target regions”, says Julian Jäger, Member of the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG.

Services to London Luton will begin operation on October 23, and will operate twice-weekly on Mondays and Fridays, while flights to Berlin will commence on October 26, operating four-times-weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

From November 5, easyJet will link Vienna to the major English city of Manchester every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, while the service to Bristol will commence a day later, operating twice-weekly every Monday and Friday.

Finally, the airline will commence the service between Vienna and Amsterdam on December 17, operating four-times-weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

"For this reason, we are looking forward to the expansion of our flight offering from the Austrian capital to encompass five new destinations and to fly from Europe to Vienna,” he added.

easyJet will offer a total of eight destinations from Vienna, with existing routes including London Gatwick, Rome Fiumicino and Geneva.

Last month, easyJet carried almost 6.56 million passengers – an increase of 7.6 percent in comparison to June 2014.

The Luton-based carrier said the load factor was also up to 92.7 percent, up from 92 percent during the same period in 2014, and in the last 12 months carried 67.1 million passengers, up 5.9 percent from almost 63.4 million.

The airline is also planning to strengthen its operations in Italy by expanding its presence at Milan Malpensa and Naples, as well as opening a new base at Venice Marco Polo Airport from April 2016.
