Discover more about the Philippines, host of Routes Asia 2016

In 2016 Routes Asia will be hosted in the Philippines, the first time a Routes event has visited this beautiful country.

The Philippines is comprised by more than 7,000 islands, with a location to suit every taste, from deserted coastlines and idyllic beaches to vibrant cities and lively surroundings.

One such city is Manila, the host city for Routes Asia and the capital of the Philippines. Known as the “Pearl of the Orient”, the bay side metropolis is home to over 1.5 million people, skyscrapers, beautiful parks, unique Spanish colonial architecture and the walled city of Intramuros.

Outside of the Manila visitors can enjoy the unrivalled variety of wildlife that the islands have to offer. Listed as one of the most biologically diverse countries on the plant, which includes over 1,000 land vertebrate species, 100 mammal and 170 bird species the Philippines offers tourists a showcase of nature.

Those who desire a more traditional relaxing experience will be spoilt for choice as the Philippines boasts the fifth longest coastline in the world, meaning there are plenty of beaches and islands to choose from.

Manila welcomes over 1 million tourists each year, with worldwide accessibility from Asia, Europe and North America in addition to flights from all major carriers providing global one-stop connectivity via their respective hubs.
