Insider's Guide to the Routes app

We sat down with Anna Cooper to talk about how delegates can get the most out of using the Routes app at World Routes 2016.

Since the app first launched in 2012, how has it changed?

The app has come a long way since we first launched 4 years ago. Its main feature was the event programme, but it has really evolved over the years to become more interactive and user friendly, with a social feed and lots of other added features including the interactive floorplan, the rate and review feature, photo feed, leader board and user surveys.

It is over the last year or two though that the app has been really developed. Last year saw the introduction of the On-site Meeting System feature, where delegates are able to view their final diary and request extra meetings directly through their mobile device.

Do you have any tips for delegates using the app for the first time?

To update your profile! The app is the main point of call for anyone searching for attendees of the event. Adding a profile picture will help people to identify you, particularly if you are a first-time attendee, and will be beneficial in your face-to-face meetings and any networking opportunities. You can also link your LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook profile to your personal profile on the app.

Customising your own event programme is a great way to stay organised at the event. Users can to create their own personalised agenda, by picking and choosing which talks, briefings or sessions you wish to attend. This is a great way to keep track of everything that’s going at the event and ensure you don’t miss out on anything.

How can delegates use the app to promote their presence at World Routes?

Get liking, commenting and sharing updates on the news feed of the app. It’s a great way to be seen at World Routes, so being active on the app, will really help to maximise your presence at the event.

If you are exhibiting at World Routes, the visit me section of the app is also a great way to promote your presence World Routes and increase visitors to your stand. You can promote any prize draws, giveaways, entertainment and hospitality you will be hosting on your stand.

This year we will be introducing a Best Stand Award for exhibitors to reward innovation and creativity. Delegates will be able to vote for their favourite stand in the survey section of the app from Sunday 25 September.

What do you think is the most important feature to use in the app?

The access to your final diary and On-site Meeting System is extremely useful to have to hand and a great feature in the event app.

The interactive floorplans also useful for finding any specific exhibitor you wish to visit and for navigating your way around the networking village.

All of the information in the app will come in extremely handy during the event, this includes transfer times, full delegate listings, airline meeting tables,

Any final tips?

We strongly advise everyone to download the app before they leave for Chengdu, due to restrictions that may be caused by the Great Firewall of China.

Also to remember that the app name has changed this year to ‘Routes Events 2016’ so if you already have the app installed on any of your devices, please remember that this must be deleted and the new app downloaded, for it to work.
