Delta reveals inaugural Airbus A220 destinations

Delta Air Line’s inaugural Airbus A220 flights will depart on 31 January 2019 from the airline’s hub at New York's LaGuardia airport.

The carrier will introduce the A220-100, previously known as Bombardier CSeries, on flights from LaGuardia to Boston and Dallas/Fort Worth.

“This aircraft is the culmination of years of listening to our customers and responding with design innovations that continue to improve Delta's domestic in-flight experience,” said Tim Mapes, SVP and chief marketing officer.

“From high-resolution seat-back entertainment screens to the widest Main Cabin seats in our fleet, the A220 will deliver an experience our customers will look forward to every time they fly.”

Delta will be the first US airline to operate the A220 – at the same time becoming the fourth A220 operator, after Swiss International Air Lines, airBaltic, and Korean Air. Delta is the largest A220-100 customer, with a firm order for 75 aircraft.

The carrier is upgrading its fleet to replace less-efficient aircraft with jets like the A220 as well as new Boeing 737-900ERs, Airbus A321s, Airbus A350s, as well as Airbus A330-900neo and Airbus A321neo.

The A220 aircraft will be configured with 109 seats, comprising 12 in first class, 15 in Delta Comfort+ and 82 in economy.

Delta’s first A220-100 took off on its first flight from Mirabel airport, Québec, earlier this month.
