Oman Airports and Oman Tourism Authority are together focusing on attracting more Asian Inbound tourism to the country.

Numbers are steadily increasing thanks to the full range of airlines operating to Asia. Oman Air flies to Guangzhou, Mali, Manila, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur; Thai Airways flies to Bangkok via Karachi; and Sri Lankan Airlines to Colombo.

In addition, carriers like Air India Express, Indigo, Air India, Air Blue, Biman Bangladesh, Jet Airways, Pakistan Airlines, Regent Airways, Shaheen Air, Spice Jet and US Bangla Airlines connect Oman to cities in the Indian subcontinent.

In recent months, Oman Tourism Authority has invited top tour operators from China and Japan to Oman, introducing them to local Omani tour operators and primary stakeholders in the country.

The initiative is to increase awareness of Oman as a desired destination to the Asian markets and collectively building attractive packages for travellers.

In addition, Omani tourism offices internationally are working hard to promote Oman as a destination and are actively working close with Oman Airports to achieve success.

Looking ahead, Oman Airports is looking to expand its network in the Far East and South East Asia in locations such as the Philippines, Japan, Korea, China, and Singapore.

"Attending significant events in 2019 like Routes Asia, World Routes and IATA Slot Conferences leads to more opportunities to connect with Asian airlines and airports to discuss further business cases and collaborations," Oman Airports says.

"The growth rate (2017 – 2018) in Far East Asia is 22.4 percent, showing a significant increase in the demand to that part of the world. Therefore, we continue to focus on increasing the connectivity; connecting Asia to Africa and Europe through Oman Airports."
