GOL launches new business plan

As the Brazilian government approves the merger of, GOL and Varig, Constantino de Oliveira Jnr CEO, announced a new business plan for the joint venture under Grupo GOL, as the controlling entity.

The plan includes expanding GOL Lineas Aereas in Brazil to become the largest airline in the country while Varig will serve international, long-haul regional markets. GOL will also concentrate on short-haul regional markets like Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Peru and Uruguay.

GOL will continue to be a low-cost carrier, while Varig will be the legacy airline with inflight service as it currently serves Bogota, Caracas and Santiago – and will be adding new long-haul international service in the future.
