Air Asia X has denied media reports stating that the carrier has chosen Abu Dhabi as the location for its proposed Middle East virtual hub.

Speaking exclusively to Routesonline Senthil Balan Danabalan commented

"Contrary to media reports, AirAsia X has not finalised its decision on its 'virtual' hub airports. AirAsia X remains keen to engage with various airports and will make a final decision later in the year. AirAsia X looks forward to using Routes Beijing as a platform to explain its 'virtual hub' requirements and engage with interested and relevant airports."

Air Asia X is currently looking for proposals from airports in the Middle East through Route Exchange and will brief airports at the upcoming Routes conference in Beijing.
