Global recession slashes business travel

Premium and business traffic experienced a steep decline in October with 6.9% fewer travellers than a year ago, according to new figures from IATA.

The association pointed to losses in the global banking sector and financial services, which are prime users of business class, as one of the major factors behind the losses.

The weakest major market for premium travel remains Europe, which fell over 14 % in October while North America suffered comparatively with cross North Atlantic traffic down 4.6 %.
