Star Alliance carrier Lufthansa is to launch a three-times weekly service linking Munich with Miami.

There is currently no scheduled link between Miami and Munich, however there is direct service operated from Dusseldorf and Frankfurt to the sunshine market.

Data shows there is a significant indirect market between the city pairs with over 64,000 pax travelling in the last 12 months and an even split between carriers operating a one-stop connection, including Delta (ATL), US Airways (PHL) and Lufthansa through Frankfurt.

Lufthansa now operates 11 routes to the US from Germany.
