Barcelona based LCC vueling is today awaiting EC approval for its proposed tie up with fellow budget carrier Click Air, which also has its main base at Barcelona's El Prat Airport. The proposed merger would create one of Europe's largest LCC carriers with a combined fleet of over 42 A320-200 aircraft. Individually both carriers have faced tough competition in the Spanish domestic market with Easyjet and Ryanair both having major operations in Spain. It is thought that the new proposed carrier will be branded as Vueling and will eventually be taken control over by Iberia.
