ROUTE EXCHANGE AIRPORT: ZURICH AIRPORT

It’s been a good week for one of our key Route Exchange members Zurich Airport. Fresh from announcing a number of new routes recently, the highlights of which include;

  • Double daily flights ZRH-BCN with Vueling, starting end of March 2011 (Summertimetable 2011)
  • 3 weekly direct flights to Beirut with Edelweiss Air (and Codeshare with Swiss) as of June 2011
  • 4 weekly flights to Wales with Helvetic Airways as of March 28 2011.

Additionally, Zurich has added upper deck boarding Airbus A380 aircraft.

The stand used for A380s received a third boarding bridge, which enables passengers to separately board the lower and upper deck of the largest passenger aircraft.

Stefan Conrad, COO of Zurich Airport Ltd., handed over the new gate E59 and its upper deck boarding bridge to operational service this Tuesday. Bruno Walder, Sales Manager Singapore Airlines, project members and the first passengers to utilize the new infrastructure also took part in the inaugural event.
