Spanair strengthens presence in the Canaries

Spanair on 13JUN07 issued press release regarding its commitment to the Canary Islands. The airline will strengthen its presence via 38 different routes, which is an increase of 15% compared to 2006 summer season.

13 mainland Spanish cities – Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Bilbao, Vigo, La Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, Pamplona, Seville, Malaga, Granada, and Jerez de la Frontera, will have services to 6 of the archipelago’s airports – Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Tenerife Norte (north) and Tenerife Sur (south), Las Palmas, and La Palma.

A significant increase in 2007 includes:
32 weekly Madrid-Tenerife Norte
14 weekly Madrid-Tenerife Sur
4 weekly Madrid-La Palma
15 weekly Barcelona – Las Palmas
8 weekly Barcelona – Lanzarote
5 weekly Bilbao-Lanzarote
3 weekly Bilbao-Las Palmas
5 weekly Seville-Tenerife Sur

New routes are also added at the meantime:

1 weekly Seville-Lanzarote
1 weekly Bilbao-Fuerteventura
1 weekly Seville-Fuerteventura
1 weekly Santiago-Fuerteventura
1 weekly Granada-Tenerife Sur
1 weekly Pamplona-Tenerife Sur

In average there will be 187 weekly scheduled flights in June 2007, 9% increase compared to 2006, and 211 weekly flights in August.
