Routes Americas heads to US in 2015

In 2015 the 8th Routes Americas will take place on 1-3 February in Denver, Colorado marking the first time that the event has taken place in the US.

The event, which is the annual gathering of air service decision makers for all of the Americas, is expected to attract almost 70 airlines, over 200 airports and over 25 tourism authorities along with a number of other industry stakeholders from across the Americas to discuss air service development.

Denver, known as the ‘Mile High City’, is the ideal destination for the event, which is hosted by Denver International Airport supported by Visit Denver. The city has an iconic skyline located against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains and is located just 340miles/547 kilometres from the exact centre of the continental United States – closer to the centre of the nation than any other city of its size.

Kim Day, CEO of Denver International Airport spoke to the HUB about the upcoming event during the recent World Routes event which took place last month in Chicago. To hear more about Denver and plans for the event watch the video of Kim’s interview on Routesonline.

Routes Americas will take place at the Sheraton Denver Downtown located on the 16th Street Pedestrian Mall, a mile-long, tree-lined promenade with bistros, breweries, shops, and entertainment. 300 days of sunshine, a thriving cultural scene, diverse neighbourhoods, and natural beauty combine for the world's most spectacular playground. A young, active city at the base of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Denver's stunning architecture, award-winning dining and unparalleled views are all within the walking distance from the 16th Street pedestrian mall. Upscale shopping awaits in Cherry Creek, while Denver's seven professional sports teams entertain year-round.

Denver International Airport will celebrate its 20th anniversary on 28 February 2015 and, in addition, the first major expansion to Denver International since 1995 is currently underway and will be completed in the first half of 2015. In 2013, Denver International Airport ranked as the third-largest domestic passenger airport in the United States, behind only Los Angeles (LAX) and Las Vegas (LAS); this is particularly impressive given that Denver’s metro area population ranks as the 18th-largest in the United States. In addition, last year the airport served 52.6 million passengers, ranking as the 5th-busiest airport in the United States and the world’s 15th busiest airport. Fifteen airlines provide nonstop service from Denver International Airport to more than 160 domestic destinations and 24 international destinations in 10 countries

Coupled with an impressive air service, Denver also has a very strong public ground transportation system that connects the metropolitan area’s three million residents. For more information and to register for Routes Americas 2015 click here.
