TAP to serve Sao Paulo secondary airport

Star Alliance member TAP Portugal has announced plans to serve Sao Paulo Viracopos Campinas.

The airport is located 99 km (62 miles) from the capital city of São Paulo, and will be the first scheduled link between Lisbon and Viracopos (VCP). TAP will launch a 3x weekly A330/A340 mix rotation.

Currently TAP serves primary Sao Paulo airport Guarulhos with the following schedule

  • Lisbon 10x weekly
  • Porto 2x weekly

BSP data (Airport IS) shows that over 126,000 passengers flew between Lisbon and Sao Paolo between Oct 08-09, with 24% leakage primarily via Madrid with Iberia.
