Event Essentials
Abu Dhabi
This is a city looking to the future. Abu Dhabi is a dynamic, young city at the heart of one of the world’s most rapidly advancing regions. It embodies the finest contemporary architecture and the most opulent hotels, with even greater ambitions yet to be realised; and yet it retains much tradition and heritage passed down from ancient Arab cultures, a fascinating contrast to the gleaming modern skyline and cosmopolitan city atmosphere.
Less than 50 years ago, this was a fishing village and pearling centre. Today Abu Dhabi is one of the
world’s richest cities and fast becoming one of its top destinations, equally accessible from Europe, Asia and Africa. In 2010 it was voted a “must see” destination in the Lonely Planet Guide. Among the many attractions are the parks, fountains and beach of the beautiful Corniche, the Grand Mosque and the Ferrari World theme park, alongside the F1 circuit on Yas Island.
The exhibitions and performances at the Cultural Foundation centre will in just a few years be complemented by Saadiyat Island’s Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, making Abu Dhabi the region’s cultural hub.
Behind all the luxury hotels, world-class dining and nightlife, pristine beaches and abundant sunshine, lies a welcome that reflects the proud tradition of Arabian hospitality – and makes this a truly distinctive destination for World Routes 2012.
The Abu Dhabi Airports Company, our host for 2012 promise some unique fun activities for delegates… watch out for news of their innovative ideas over the next 12 months!
