About The Airport
Nanaimo Airport (YCD), located on beautiful Vancouver Island in British Columbia has been experiencing phenomenal growth over the past 5 years. In fact, YCD has doubled its passenger numbers since 2011, following a runway expansion and installation of an ILS. With over 340,000 passengers in 2016, YCD is 10 years ahead of previous forecasts. The YCD direct catchment area has a total population of nearly 260,000 with over 400,000 people in the wider Central Vancouver Island region. YCD is a not-for-profit authority owned by the Nanaimo Airport Commission.
YCD is ideally situated as the most convenient departure/arrival point for customers from the mid-Island area and is considered the visitor’s “Gateway to Vancouver Island” and its wide range of tourism opportunities.
The Nanaimo Airport currently offers up to 8 flights a day between YCD and Vancouver serviced by Air Canada Jazz and 4 flights a day between YCD and Calgary serviced by Air Canada and WestJet.
