Floripa Airport reaches historic milestone of 1 million international passengers in 2025.
Florianópolis International Airport reached an unprecedented milestone on October 16th: 1 million international passengers in a single year. Until then, only Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo and Galeão Airport in Rio de Janeiro had reached this level in a single year in the country, reinforcing Florianópolis' growing relevance in the international market.
The destination that most drives this record in 2025 is Santiago, Chile, ahead of Buenos Aires, a traditional market for the Santa Catarina airport. The diversification of international travel options from Florianópolis also contributes to the expansion, with the adoption, since last year, of direct flights to Lisbon with TAP, and to Panama with Copa Airlines – routes that also provide quick connections to, respectively, Europe and North America and the Caribbean.

“This milestone is the result of a consistent strategy of route expansion, public-private partnerships, infrastructure investments, and the confidence of airlines. Florianópolis is consolidating itself as a global destination, and our commitment is to continue elevating the travel experience and contributing to the development of Santa Catarina,” says Ricardo Gesse, CEO of Zurich Airport Brazil.
This remarkable fact also reflects the strength of tourism in Santa Catarina:
"The record number of international passengers proves that tourism in Santa Catarina has reached a new level of maturity. This result is not just a number: it is the fruit of the strategic partnership between the State Government and the private airport management, which guaranteed more routes and greater competitiveness. Our commitment is to consolidate Santa Catarina as the new international hub of Southern Brazil, ensuring that investment in connectivity continues to be the engine of development in Santa Catarina," says Catiane Seif, Secretary of Tourism of Santa Catarina.
By the end of the year, projections indicate that Floripa Airport should reach 1.2 million passengers, a growth of 580% compared to 2022, the year of post-pandemic recovery.
"Competent private management at Florianópolis airport, now combined with a solid public policy from the state, has shortened the distance between Florianópolis and Santa Catarina and the world. We are very proud to say that we are already the third largest international destination in Brazil," says Beto Martins, Secretary of Ports, Airports and Railways of SC.
The result is the fruit of a trajectory of accelerated growth. In 2018, the year in which Zurich Airport Brasil began managing Florianópolis Airport, on January 3rd of that year, the airport registered just over 273,000 international passengers, an accumulated growth of 356% in seven years.

With the arrival of the summer season, even more intense traffic is expected. Floripa Airport projects 819,000 international passengers between December and March, a 19% increase compared to the previous period, in addition to 2.1 million total passengers, driven by increased flight availability and strong tourist demand in Santa Catarina.
