Macaé Airport is voted the best offshore airport in Brazil.

Macaé Airport won first place in the land-based aerodromes category in the awards presented by the Air and Maritime Operational Excellence and Efficiency Program – PEOTRAM 2024, from Petrobras.

One of the leading benchmarks in safety and efficiency in the oil and gas sector in Brazil, PEOTRAM celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2025.

The award evaluated technical and operational indicators during the year 2024. This recognition reinforces Macaé Airport's position as a benchmark in safety and operational excellence, in addition to offering one of the best airport infrastructures in the offshore sector. Currently, the airport has 7 hangars, 4 lounges available for operators to use and a workspace with workstations in the check-in area.

“This achievement is a milestone for Zurich Airport Brazil as it recognizes our commitment to implementing the operational quality that is a hallmark of our airports in offshore operations. It also reinforces the strength of our partnership with Petrobras,” says Ricardo Gesse, CEO of Zurich Airport Brazil.

PEOTRAM results are used as criteria in Petrobras' hiring processes, therefore recognition contributes significantly to consolidating Macaé as a strategic hub for offshore operations in the Campos Basin. Committed to offering the best solutions for the oil and gas industry, Zurich Airport Brasil also has offshore operations at Vitória Airport to serve the Espírito Santo Basin.

The achievement of the PEOTRAM award comes at a special time for Macaé Airport, which was the site of one of the largest infrastructure projects in the state of Rio de Janeiro – with an investment of R$ 220 million from Zurich Airport Brasil – the construction of a new 1,410-meter runway. During the construction, completed at the end of 2024, offshore operations were not interrupted, demonstrating the operational maturity and quality of the deliverables of the local team.
