flydubai adds Riga to its growing network in Europe

The Dubai-based airline becomes the first UAE carrier to operate direct flights to Riga with a three-times weekly service.

flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, continues to grow its network with the launch of a new service to Riga in Latvia from 12 December, becoming the first UAE airline to operate direct flights from Dubai.

Flights to Terminal 3, Dubai International (DXB) will operate three times a week from RIX Riga Airport, enabling passengers from Latvia and the Baltic region to travel conveniently to Dubai and beyond on the flydubai network as well as the Emirates network, as part of the codeshare agreement between to two airlines.

Commenting on the launch of flights, Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, said: “Europe remains an important market for flydubai and we are excited to grow our network there with the launch of flights to Riga. This new gateway into the Baltic region reflects our ongoing commitment to stimulating free flows of trade and tourism and providing a reliable and elevated travel experience. With the start of operations to Riga, we look forward to offering passengers more opportunities to explore Dubai, the GCC region and onwards on the flydubai network including Kenya, the Maldives, Tanzania, Thailand and Sri Lanka.”

Whether you’re looking for a beach getaway or a city break, Dubai is the perfect destination where you can look forward to luxurious resorts, world-class shopping and dining, as well as plenty of activities for families and adventure seekers. Marvel at the Burj Khalifa or discover the stunning natural landscapes of Dubai’s surrounding deserts. Visitors can also spend the day wandering through the Dubai Mall or exploring the city’s souks and markets.

Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of the Board of RIX Riga Airport, said: “we are pleased to welcome this additional connection between Riga and Dubai, now to be operated by flydubai. The addition of a new carrier not only enhances the existing connection to one of the world’s key aviation hubs, but also introduces a new standard of service on this route. With a distinguished business class offering and seamless connectivity options to other destinations, flydubai brings added value for both leisure and business travellers. We are confident that passengers will appreciate the elevated experience and flexibility this new option provides.”

Today, flydubai has built a growing network of more than 135 destinations across 58 countries, more than 100 of which did not previously have direct air links to Dubai. The airline operates a modern and efficient fleet of 88 Boeing 737 aircraft.

Passengers travelling with flydubai can look forward to an elevated travel experience both in the air and on the ground. Business Class passengers can enjoy lie-flat seats that rival the experience offered on a widebody aircraft, along with internationally-inspired menus and hours of immersive entertainment. Passengers travelling in Economy Class can also sit back, relax and enjoy their flight with seats that offer a gentle recline and an adjustable leather headrest.
