Wizz Air commences flights to Riga

On 13 March the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe Wizz Air with the first regular flight from the Norwegian capital Oslo opened traffic to RIGA International Airport.

Wizz Air is already the second new airline that in 2010 opens flights from RIGA International Airport. In January Belarusian national carrier Belavia commenced flights between Riga and Minsk, and on 29 March RIGA International Airport will welcome Romanian flag carrier TAROM that will operate on the route Riga - Bucharest.

RIGA International Airport is the biggest air traffic hub in the Baltic states. 78 direct destinations are offered to the passengers from RIGA Airport by 14 airlines. In 2009 RIGA International Airport welcomed   4 066 793 passengers.
