WIZZ AIR CELEBRATES EXPANSION IN AUSTRIA

Vienna, 19 November 2018: Wizz Air, one of Europe’s fastest growing airlines, today celebrates the expansion of its operations in Austria by adding a second new Airbus A321 aircraft at its Vienna base and launching five long-awaited routes from Vienna International Airport. The new low-fare services connect Vienna with Nis in Serbia, Ohrid in Macedonia, Thessaloniki in Greece, Billund in Denmark and Eilat in Israel. To celebrate the occasion, being one of the youngest airlines in Vienna and flying one of the youngest fleets in the world, Wizz Air awarded the youngest passenger of the first Thessaloniki – Vienna flight with a value voucher that can be redeemed on wizzair.com.

WIZZ is the pioneer of a new travel era in Austria, with affordable fares and services, a diverse and exciting network and a simple online booking system. Wizz Air thus enables Austrian customers to travel to a variety of exciting destinations at truly affordable prices. Wizz Air started its operations from Vienna International Airport in April 2018 and since then has continuously invested in network, always looking to bring unique and affordable travel opportunities for its customers. Wizz Air’s continuous investment in Austria and the expansion of its local base in 2019 will create new jobs with the company and expand the local team to more than 200 direct employees. The airline continues to invest in its local base by allocating the second modern Airbus A321 today, a further investment of $ 118.3 million**, and employing additional 42 local crew members. WIZZ’s operations in the country will further contribute to the local economy development by increasing employment in Austria’s aviation and tourism sectors and supporting more than 400 jobs** in 2018.
