Volaris Airlines launches nonstop Zacatecas service at OAK
Three times weekly flights are the latest addition to OAK’s Mexico service.
Today, Volaris, Mexico’s largest airline, launched their inaugural service to Zacatecas, Mexico (ZCL) at Oakland Airport (OAK). The new destination marks the sixth nonstop route to Mexico offered by Volaris at OAK, in addition to Volaris El Salvador’s service to San Salvador. The new service will be offered three times weekly, on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The flight was celebrated with a special event for passengers at the gate.
“I’d like to thank Volaris for the remarkable growth that we’ve seen in their service offerings here at OAK,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon. “We know how valuable these nonstop flights to and from Mexico are to our community. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the Bay Area from Zacatecas as well, because flying OAK is the Best Way to San Francisco Bay!”
The service operates on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays on the following schedule:
Southbound: Departs OAK at 1:15 PM, Arrives at ZCL at 5:46 PM
Northbound: Departs ZCL at 9:01 AM, Arrives OAK at 11:45 AM
“We are thrilled to launch this new route, connecting two emblematic cities like Oakland and Zacatecas. This is another step forward in our goal to continuously diversify our route offerings for the benefit of our customers on both sides of the border,” said Jorge Roberto García Rojas, Director of Distribution and Market Development at Volaris.
Rising 8,000 feet above sea level in Mexico’s mountainous Bajio region, Zacatecas is home to a UNESCO-listed historic center replete with outstanding Spanish Baroque architecture, quiet cobbled alleyways, and breathtaking views. The Centro Historico has preserved much of the architecture and urban design of the city, dating back to the sixteenth century.
The new flight is operated by Volaris’ fleet of Airbus Neo aircraft. Volaris offers a full range of onboard products for customers to choose from including premium seating, assigned seats, and dozens of food and beverage options for purchase.
Tickets are available for sale at Volaris.com.
