Complimentary Tours
Our hosts have arranged a selection of Complimentary Tours to enable delegates to experience Rio de Janeiro during their stay for Routes Americas 2026.

All tours will take place on Monday 2 March. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
Advice for delegates: Rio de Janeiro has a tropical climate, and Routes Americas 2026 in March will be in Rio's late summer. We recommend short-sleeved shirts, dresses, and shorts - preferably in lightweight fabrics - as well as swimwear (trunks, swimsuits, bikinis).
Other essentials such as sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and personal care items suited to each participant's specific needs are crucial for enjoying the tours to the fullest. Please bring water to ensure you stay hydrated.
Please ensure that your own travel insurance covers you for the tour you are participating in.

Sugar Loaf

Date: Monday 2 March
Group One: 9am – 1pm
Group Two: 2pm – 6pm
Pickup Point: Official Hotels
Description: This begins with a panoramic tour of Rio's, passing by the famous Sambadrome. Afterwards, we'll stop at the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Municipal Theater. Visit Sugarloaf Mountain, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The ascent is made in two stages by cable car, first to Urca Hill and then to the summit of Sugarloaf, where you’ll enjoy stunning views of Copacabana, Botafogo beaches, and Niteroi city.
The tour includes: Transfer from hotel / visit Sugar Loaf by cable car + Carioca tasting experience with Caipirinha / transfer back to the hotel.
Corcovado (Christ the Redeemer)

Date: Monday 2 March
Group One: 9am – 1pm
Group Two: 2pm – 6pm

Description: Located at the top of Corcovado Mountain, the monument stands as the most iconic symbol of Brazil, recognized worldwide.
The train crosses Tijuca National Park, a preserved stretch of the Atlantic Forest. The statue of Christ the Redeemer was inaugurated on 1931. It was elected one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Christ is the image of the faith and kindness of the people of Rio.
The tour includes: Transfer from hotel / visit to Corcovado by train + Carioca tasting experience with açaí or mate with tapioca cookies / transfer back to the hotel.
Jeep Tour - Beaches

Date: Monday 2 March
Time: 8am – 2pm
Pickup Point: Official Hotels
Description: Discover Rio’s hidden gems in the West Zone, just one hour from Copacabana. With the top down and ocean breeze in the air, you’ll ride along breathtaking coastal roads and visit some of the city’s most stunning beaches. Barra da Tijuca, Reserva, Recreio, Macumba, Prainha ,Abricó, Grumari. Enjoy refreshing swims, a relaxing picnic, and the unforgettable landscapes of Rio’s “Tropical Paradise.”
Itinerary: Reserva, Prainha, Abricó, Grumari beaches.
The tour includes: Transfer from hotel / 4x4 Jeep tour of Rio's beaches with a picnic / transfer back to the hotel.
Guanabara Bay

Date: Monday 2 March
Time: 9am – 1pm
Pickup Point: Official Hotels
Description: From your hotel, transfer to Marina da Glória for a schooner cruise, exploring the scenic beauty and charm of Guanabara Bay. You'll see historic venues such as Fiscal Island and the São João Fortress, where the city of Rio de Janeiro was founded. You will experience the Sugarloaf and Corcovado Mountains from a new perspective, and sail past the neighbourhoods of Flamengo, Botafogo and Urca and the Rio-Niteroi Bridge. Refreshments will be served during the tour.
Itinerary: Flamengo, Botafogo, Urca, and Niterói
The tour includes: Transfers from hotel / Saveiro Cruise Guanabara Bay / Transfer back to the hotel
Footvolley

Date: Monday 2 March
Time: 9am – 11am
Pickup Point: Official Hotels
Description: Footvolley is a sport that offers numerous health benefits while engaging multiple muscle groups. It combines the skills and movements of soccer and volleyball and is typically played on sand. Coconut water or açaí will be offered.
The tour includes: Transfer from hotel / Private footvolley class with an instructor on a sand court + Brazilian Recharge break / transfer back to the hotel.
Minimum participants 4 persons / Maximum participants 8 persons (30-minute class per group)
Beach Tennis

Date: Monday 2 March
Time: 9am – 11am
Pickup Point: Official Hotels
Description: Beach tennis has gained popularity for its easy-to-learn nature and the fun it offers, even to beginners. It’s also an excellent way to enhance physical and motor skills, stay fit, and burn calories. Coconut water or açaí will be offered.
The tour includes: Transfer from hotel / Private Beach tennis class with an instructor on a sand court + Brazilian Recharge break / transfer back to the hotel.
Minimum participants 4 persons / Maximum participants 8 persons (30-minute class per group)
Stand Up Paddle - Sunrise in Copacabana

Date: Monday 2 March
Group One: 5:40am
Group Two: 7am
Group Three: 2pm
Pickup Point: Official Hotels
Description: Stand-up paddleboarding has transformed the lifestyle of both Rio’s residents and visitors, becoming one of the city’s most iconic attractions. Often hailed as Rio’s most Instagrammable experience, it offers more than just memories capturing stunning, complimentary photos that immortalize the magic of a Rio sunrise.
The activity will take place on Copacabana beach in front of the Fairmont Hotel.
The tour includes: Transfers from hotel / Sunrise Stand-up paddleboard training / transfer back to the hotel. Equipment in excellent condition, including boards, paddles, and life jackets for everyone.
