Getting around Xi'an
Xi'an offers extensive public transport options for getting around the city during your time at Routes Asia 2026.
Subway/Metro
Currently, Xi'an has 12 subway lines in operation, covering the airport, high-speed railway station, and major attractions (such as the Bell Tower and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda).
Subway Ride Guide:
- Code-scanning Riding: You can search for the "Xi'an Subway Riding Code" in the Alipay or WeChat app, get the "Xi'an Subway Electronic Card", and then scan the code to enter and exit the gate to ride the subway.
- You can also buy single journey tickets from ticket machines or a manual ticket window, which also accept cash.
- Ticket Price: The Xi'an subway ticket price starts at RMB2 (charged by mileage, with a maximum one-way price of RMB8).
- Operating Hours: 6:00-23:00 (slightly adjusted for different lines)
Recommended Routes:
- Riding Line 4 to visit "Daming Palace National Heritage Park → Yongxingfang → Tang Paradise";
- Riding Line 3 to visit "Qinglong Temple for cherry blossoms → SEG International Shopping Center → Shaanxi History Museum";
- Transferring to Line 9 to visit the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum.

Bus
Xi'an has a highly developed bus network that radiates throughout the whole city. At present, there are 630 routes in operation, and passengers can catch a bus at bus shelters or stop signs on urban roads.
If you want to visit the following landmarks, the reference routes are as follows:
- Bell and Drum Tower: You can take Bus No. 15, 43, 201, 300, or 618 to Bell Tower West Stop - you can take Bus No. 4, 12, 37, 235, or 600 to Bell Tower North Stop.
- Shaanxi History Museum: You can take Bus No. 5, 19, 24, 34, or 400 to Shaanxi History Museum Stop.
- The Longest Day in Chang'an: You can take Bus No. 24 to Yanta South Road & Yannan First Road Intersection Stop.
- Big Wild Goose Pagoda: You can take Bus No. 609 to Big Wild Goose Pagoda North Square Stop.
- Tang Paradise: You can take Bus No. 609 to Tang Paradise West Gate Stop.
- Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Museum: You can take Bus No. 5 (306) to Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Museum Stop.
- Huaqing Hot Spring: You can take Bus No. 5 (306) to Huaqing Hot Spring Stop.
