Koltsovo Airport in Ekaterinburg, capital of the Ural Federal Region and Sverdlovsk Oblast Province, is investing heavily in new terminals, cargo infrastructure, and construction of a new state-of-the-art Exhibition and Fair Facility in close proximity to the airport to meet the demands of both domestic and international travellers. It serves a huge area - the Ural region is wide-ranging - and its main aim is to become a major hub for travel and trade between Europe and Asia. The city straddles the boundary separating the two continents.
Ekaterinburg is Host city for FIFA World Cup-2018 and Candidate City for WORLD EXPO-2020.
