New carrier at Vienna International Airport
Aegean Airlines launches five weekly flights on the Vienna-Athens route
A new carrier has landed at Vienna International Airport: on 10 December 2009 the Greek Aegean Airlines started flights on the Vienna-Athens route. Five-times per week (except on Tuesday and Saturday), the Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft will depart from Vienna at
8.45 pm and land in Athens at 00.10 am. The return flight from Athens is scheduled to depart at 5.55 pm and, after a two and a half hour flight, will land in Vienna at 7.20 pm. “We are pleased to welcome Aegean Airlines to Vienna International Airport. This additional direct connection to Athens will increase the offering at our airport“, commented Herbert Kaufmann, Speaker of the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG.
The Greek carrier Aegean Airlines was founded in 1999. Its route network currently covers 50 domestic and international destinations. In 2008 the airline carried a total of six million passengers.
