Hainan Airlines Returns to Vienna: China’s largest privately owned airline resumes direct flight service to Shenzhen

The offering of long-haul flights at Vienna Airport continues to recover. Hainan Airlines, the largest privately owned airline in the People’s Republic of China, will once again link Vienna and the high-tech metropolis of Shenzhen as of 29 May 2024. China is an important market for Vienna Airport and for the entire business and tourism location of Austria. Flights will be operated two times per week and throughout the entire year. Hainan Airlines terminated flight service on the Vienna-Shenzhen route in February 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic and is now returning to Vienna Airport after a break of four years.

Shenzhen: High-tech metropolis with a population of about 17 million Shenzhen is a modern metropolis in Southern China and is well known for its rapid economic development. Numerous top multinational companies such as Siemens, Huawei, Microsoft, Philips, IBM,
Samsung, Panasonic have located headquarters in Shenzhen. In turn, this strengthens the role of the city as a leading technology centre. Starting on 29 May 2024, Hainan Airlines will operate two weekly flights (Wednesdays, Saturdays) connecting Vienna and Shenzhen. The flight will leave Shenzhen at 2:05 a.m. and arrive in Vienna at 7:55 a.m. The return flight from Vienna will take off at 11:05 a.m. and land in Shenzhen at 4 a.m. on the next day.
