Launch of the Route Vienna-Moscow-Novosibirsk

First landing by the Russian S7 Airlines at Vienna International Airport

Today, 12 June 2010, marked the first landing by the Russian carrier S7 Airlines at Vienna International Airport. This new Vienna-Moscow-Novosibirsk connection was celebrated at a symbolic ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Friedrich Lehr, Head of Aviation at Vienna International Airport, Maxim Lichtenfeld, General Manager Europe for S7 Airlines and Alexey Abuzarov, Deputy General Manager Europe for S7 Airlines.

S7 Airlines will fly from Novosibirsk via Moscow to Vienna once a week on Saturday at 10.05 am. The return flight will depart from Vienna for Moscow and Novosibirsk at 3.50 pm. An Airbus A319 is scheduled for these flights.

"Novosibirsk is the third largest city in Russia. This new direct connection represents an important addition to our offering for Austrian business travellers", indicated Friedrich Lehr, Head of Aviation at Flughafen Wien AG.

"With Vienna as a new destination, we have an interesting and important connection from Russia to Europe. Novosibirsk is one of the most important industrial and scientific centres in Russia. We are convinced this new connection will create substantial benefits for both Austria and Russia", commented Maxim Lichtenfeld, General Manager Europe for S7 Airlines.

S7 Airlines carried 5.6 million passengers in 2009. The route network of this Russian carrier covers 75 destinations and extends from Europe to the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific region.
