flydubai launches flights from Vilnius to Dubai

On 11th of December, an aircraft operated by flydubai took off from Vilnius Airport to Dubai for the first time. This marks the first time a United Arab Emirates airline has launched scheduled flights in Lithuania, directly connecting the country with the UAE. Dubai, which attracts large flows of tourists and stands out on the international business map, is a major global aviation hub in the Middle East.

“Today we are celebrating a new connection between two cities and two countries. flydubai’s decision to link Vilnius and Dubai is not just the launch of a new route—it is the opening of doors to endless opportunities for two nations that have much to offer each other,” said Noora Juma, the non-resident Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Lithuania.

“I am pleased that over the past two years this is already the fourth new airline to begin operations in Lithuania. This shows that Vilnius Airport remains a safe, attractive, and reliable partner for international carriers. The arrival of this airline marks a new stage in our country’s aviation sector. A direct connection with one of the most important hubs in the Middle East not only increases Lithuania’s accessibility and expands connecting flight options, but also opens up entirely new travel destinations for all of us, as well as for business and the tourism sector. In the first year of operations alone, around 40,000 passengers are planned to be carried,” said Minister of Transport and Communications Juras Taminskas.

Flights between Vilnius and Dubai airports operate three times a week. flydubai notes that it works closely with Emirates, and this partnership significantly expands onward travel opportunities—passengers departing from Vilnius can conveniently connect to a wide range of destinations worldwide through seamless routes.

“The launch of direct flydubai flights at Vilnius Airport is a significant step in expanding our aviation map and strengthening Lithuania’s air connectivity. This new link with one of the Middle East’s key hubs opens up even more opportunities for both travelers and businesses, while also providing convenient access to more than 200 destinations across the global Emirates network. We especially value the airline’s readiness to invest in the development of inbound tourism in the Baltic States, which is crucial for ensuring the success of flights throughout the year. We are confident that the Dubai route will become an attractive and permanent choice for our passengers,” commented Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports.

According to flydubai, the airline currently operates flights to 135 airports in 58 countries. Central and Eastern Europe is one of the company’s key areas of expansion.

flydubai representative Jeyhun Efendi stated that flights from Vilnius underscore the airline’s commitment to expanding its direct flight network and entering markets with strong growth potential. “The new flights will play an important role in developing tourism and trade between the UAE and Lithuania. Passengers will have more convenient choices and opportunities in both countries,” J.Efendi said.

Both sides expect that the flights will ensure not only better connectivity but also broader economic cooperation between the countries, while attracting travelers seeking new cultural and leisure experiences. Passengers from Lithuania will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Dubai’s world-class attractions or plan onward journeys, for example to the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, or Thailand.
