FlixBus is massively expanding its service at Düsseldorf Airport

FlixBus is now offering up to 19 daily departures to North Rhine-Westphalia’s largest airport via seven lines. Previously, there were six departures across three routes. This expansion significantly strengthens Düsseldorf Airport’s connections to the Netherlands and Belgium. New destinations include Maastricht, Enschede, Groningen, Antwerp, and Ghent. This gives air travelers even more sustainable, affordable, and fast options for getting to and from the airport.

FlixBus has been connecting Düsseldorf Airport to Europe’s largest long-distance bus network for about a year. Now, four additional routes are being added, connecting the airport to new destinations within Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France:

  • Line 027: up to three times daily with stops in Groningen, Enschede, Münster, and Bonn
  • Line 081: up to six times daily with stops in Brussels, Roermond, and Hanover
  • Line 280: up to two times daily with stops in Ghent, Antwerp, and Eindhoven
  • Line N179: up to two times daily with stops in Brussels, Mons, Maastricht, and Paris

The following routes have been operating via the airport since last year:

  • Line 068: Up to twice daily, with stops in Utrecht, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Isselburg
  • Line N116: Up to twice daily, with stops in Venlo, Eindhoven, Rotterdam, The Hague, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Siegen
  • Line N79: Up to twice daily, with stops in Liège, Brussels, Paris, and Aachen

More connections to the Netherlands and Belgium

The FlixBus stop at the airport is particularly popular on routes to the Netherlands, which is why service here is being significantly expanded once again. In particular, frequencies from Eindhoven are increasing, and Maastricht, Enschede, Groningen, and Roermond are being added as new destinations. As part of the expansion, service for Belgian passengers will also be enhanced—with more frequent departures from Brussels as well as new direct connections from Antwerp and Ghent. Within Germany, passengers from Münster, Bonn, and Hanover will now be able to travel to the airport by FlixBus for the first time.

Fast travel times without transfers

In some cases, traveling with FlixBus is significantly faster than by train: The trip from Venlo, Netherlands, takes just over an hour, whereas other forms of public transportation take half an hour longer and require a transfer. Passengers from Roermond can reach the airport without transferring within 80 minutes—also faster than by train. Amsterdam is roughly the same in terms of travel time, but without a transfer.

Mobility hub near the city

The green bus fleet stops at Bus Stop 14, which is located directly at the terminal on the arrivals level near the REWE supermarket. Passengers benefit from optimal connections to air travel, local public transit—including the “Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal” S-Bahn station and the SkyTrain to the long-distance train station—as well as to the road network of the A52/A44 and B8 highways and a short-term parking lot in the immediate vicinity.

With the addition of FlixBus routes, the airport is once again expanding its catchment area. The new routes and frequent service provide passengers and guests with additional convenient and sustainable options for arriving and departing. In doing so, North Rhine-Westphalia’s largest airport underscores its role as an urban mobility hub that connects many modes of transport, from electric scooters to the A380.
