"TAROM is a European full-service airline company, with 55 years of heritage in the aviation industry. We hold one of the youngest fleet in Europe, the average age of our aircraft is 8 years and we offer on board services: hot meals and beverages. Our passengers also benefit of free transportation for 20 kg of hold luggage.

The opening of this new route enters into TAROM's extension strategy to the Eastern and Northern Europe, in order to become complementary with the area of destinations covered by SkyTeam, which TAROM will join in June 2010. SkyTeam is one of the world's biggest airlines alliance, covering a global network that offers its 384 million annual passengers a worldwide system of 13,133 daily flights covering 856 destinations in 169 countries." - Gabriela Bordea, Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales TAROM.

Krišjānis Peters, Chairman of the Board of SJSC RIGA International Airport, said:   „We are gratified that the Romanian national carrier TAROM has opened flights from RIGA International Airport. An essential precondition for starting of this collaboration was our tariff policy that is one of the most attractive and competitive among the airports of the European capitals. Commencement of TAROM flights to Riga promises to the residents of Latvia, the Baltic states and Scandinavia vaster and more convenient opportunities to visit Romania. I am convinced that our collaboration will be fruitful and in the future it will result in an increasing number of flights to Romania."

In the 2010 summer schedule, TAROM serves 54 destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, also including the flights operated in code share. In 2009, TAROM introduced eleven new destinations: Amsterdam, Bari, Budapest, Belgrade, Dubrovnik (only for the summer season), Lyon, Geneva, Salzburg (only for the winter season), Strasbourg, Venice and Zurich.

TAROM currently owns one of the youngest fleet in Europe consisting of 26 aircraft: Boeing 737, Airbus 310/318 and ATR 42/72.
