Daily Flight Service to the “Cradle of the Renaissance”: Vueling Links Vienna with the Italian Art Metropolis Florence

Italian art and history have come a step closer. With immediate effect, Vueling operates daily flights from Vienna to Florence in Italy. Thanks to its numerous cultural treasures, the art metropolis and capital city of Tuscany is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The new flight connection was officially opened at Vienna Airport today, Monday September 16, 2019.

“The offering of low-cost flight connections in Vienna is growing. By opening a new service to Florence, the Spanish airline Vueling increases its network from Vienna to a total of four destinations, besides the existing services to Barcelona, Paris and Rome. With the new flight connection Florence can now be reached twice daily from Vienna Airport”, says Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, who is pleased about the expansion of the airport’s route network.

Florence is the capital and largest city in Tuscany and is well known to be the Cradle of the Renaissance. Following the footsteps of Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei and Michelangelo, travellers can explore the formative history of the city. Michelangelo’s Statue of David, Botticelli’s painting “The Birth of Venus” and the enormous dome of the cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore, a technical masterpiece of the Renaissance, only comprise a small selection of the cultural treasures which Florence boasts. The historical city centre of Florence was inscribed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.
