Viracopos Airport named Best Airport in Brazil for the 5th time in its category

Viracopos Airport – Excellence in Every Journey

Viracopos International Airport, in Campinas (São Paulo), has been named the Best Airport in Brazil in the category of over 10 million passengers/year, according to a passenger satisfaction survey conducted by the Brazilian Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SAC). This marks the fifth time Viracopos has received the annual award, having won in the overall category in the first two instances.

The “Aviação +Brasil 2025” award was announced this Tuesday (May 27) in Brasília (DF), in the presence of the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho. Viracopos previously received the Best Airport in Brazil title in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, and now again in 2025. The awards always refer to performance in the previous year.

Viracopos won in the General Category in 2019 and 2020, and in the category for airports with over 10 million passengers/year in 2022, 2023, and 2025. With this, Viracopos becomes the most awarded airport in the history of the Aviação +Brasil Awards in passenger satisfaction among the busiest airports in the country. The award has been granted by the Federal Government since the beginning of airport concessions in 2013.

Overall, Viracopos received a score of 4.48 out of 5, while the average score of the six airports in the same category was 4.39. Among the 20 main airports evaluated, the general average was 4.43 in 2024.

Throughout the year, the Federal Government surveyed approximately 107,000 passengers at the 20 main airports in Brazil, which collectively account for around 86% of total passenger traffic in the country.

13 Quarterly Wins

Before the survey became annual, awards were presented quarterly. Viracopos was named Best Airport in Brazil 13 times in these quarterly evaluations conducted by the Federal Government, winning in: Q3 2013; Q4 2013; Q4 2014; Q1 2015; Q1 2016; Q2 2017; Q3 2017; Q1 2018; Q3 2018; Q4 2018; Q1 2019; Q2 2019; and Q4 2019.

The survey assesses passengers’ experiences across various aspects of infrastructure, service, and operational processes, including check-in, security screening, baggage claim, among others.

Gustavo Müssnich, CEO of the Viracopos concessionaire Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos, stated that this latest achievement reflects the collective efforts of the entire airport community to deliver service excellence.
“Undoubtedly, this new title as the Best Airport in Brazil in the Passenger Satisfaction Survey shows that our commitment to high-quality service continues to be recognized by our customers. The concessionaire will keep investing in improvements throughout 2025 so we can aim for another award next year,” said Müssnich.

“Viracopos had already been named Best Airport in Brazil four times, and this new recognition proves our ongoing dedication to improving services for our customers. Let’s not forget that Viracopos is also internationally recognized for the efficiency and agility of its Cargo Terminal,” added Marco Beme, Viracopos’ Chief Operations Officer.

Survey Methodology

The passenger perception survey on airport performance is coordinated by the SAC technical team with the support of the Operational Performance Technical Committee (CTDO) of CONAERO.

Qualitative data is collected through face-to-face interviews with departing and arriving passengers at the 20 main airports in Brazil, using a standardized questionnaire. Topics include comfort, safety, services, and available amenities, among others. At the end of the questionnaire, passengers also rate their overall satisfaction with the airport on a scale of 1 to 5.
