Lodz Airport - ACI EUROPE report

A 48 percent increase in passenger traffic in August 2023 compared to August 2019 (the last year before the pandemic) was appreciated.

For the second time this year, the airport in Łódź has been included in the ranking of ACI EUROPE – the Association of European Airports. A 48 percent increase in passenger traffic in August 2023 compared to August 2019 (the last year before the pandemic) was appreciated.

In August, passenger traffic at European airports was 3.4% lower than in the last August before the pandemic. However, there were airports that have recovered from a period of forced shutdown and are now recording much better statistics.

ACI - the Association of European Airports - evaluates airports in four groups depending on their size. The first one (passenger traffic over 25 million) includes such giants as Istanbul, London Heathrow, Amsterdam-Schiphol and Frankfurt. The second group includes ports serving from 10 to 25 million (e.g. Paris Orly, Athens, Dublin, Antalya), and the third from 5 to 10 million (e.g. Milan Bargamo, Brussels Charleroi).

Łódź is in the fourth group of regional airports serving up to 5 million passengers per year. In August 2023, the largest increases in this group were recorded by Italy's #Perugia (+203%), Georgia's #Kutaisi (+122%), #Tirana, the capital of Albania (+108.5%), #Samarkanda Uzbakistan (+99%), Croatia's #Zadar (+91.4%) and #Łódź (+48%)

In August, it was possible to fly from Łódź Airport to Alicante, Brussels Charleroi, Dublin, London Luton, London Stansted, Milan Bergamo, Antalya, Burgas, Heraklion and Zante.

This year, for the second time, the airport in Łódź has been listed among those that are doing best after the pandemic. In the previous ACI ranking, Łódź was recognized for a 38% increase in passenger traffic in the first half of this year compared to the first half of 2019.
