Regent Airways opens new route to Muscat

Oman Airports is happy to announce that Regent Airways, one of the leading private aviation companies of Bangladesh is opening a new route to the Middle East and the first destination is Muscat, the capital of Oman. Regent Airways will formally start the operation from Dhaka and Chittagong to Muscat on April 7, 2016.

The newly added aircraft “Boeing 737-800” with 183 seats will fly on Muscat route, the fifth international route of Regent. The Boeing 737-800 which was leased from an American company have already reached at Dhaka on Thursday March 24, 2016. 

The press release further added that, primarily the flight will be operated four days in a week on Dhaka-Chittagong-Muscat route. 

On every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday the flight will fly from Dhaka at 7:15 PM for Chittagong and will fly from Chittagong at 8:30 PM for Muscat where it will reach Muscat at 11:45 PM (LT).

On every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Monday the flight will fly from Muscat at midnight 12:45 AM and will be reaching Chittagong at 7:30 AM (LT) and Dhaka at 8:45 AM (LT).

Including all taxes, the minimum fare of Dhaka-Muscat has been fixed up at BDT. 20,565 for one way and BDT.39,478 for return. The one-way Chittagong-Muscat fare will be BDT 19,005 and return BDT.39,244.

The one-way Muscat -Dhaka minimum fare will be 50 Omani Rials and the return 130 Rials. The one way Muscat-Chittagong fare will be 60 Rials and return135 Rials.

Besides, each passenger will have the opportunity to carry free 20 kgs of luggage from Bangladesh while each passenger can carry 45 kgs of luggage free of cost while coming from Oman.

Describing the background of opening a new route, Managing Director, Mr. Mashruf Habib said that the dream and vision of Regent Airways is to be flying partner of the Bangladeshi expatriates worldwide. “We also try to make the travel on air routes more comfortable and cheaper. Following our success on prevailing international routes particularly Malaysia and Singapore, we have started a new air route to Middle East now”

Mr. Mashruf informed that traveling of passengers from Bangladesh to Oman has significantly increased in the recent time as there are no such strict procedures to get VISA from Oman for the Bangladeshis. Subsequently, aviation business has increased on this route. “So, we have started the new route to Oman as the first destination to Middle East. We will also try to make the travel on the route with logical fare and most comfortable for our valuable passengers. “

Kicked off on November 10, 2010, the Regent Airways has opened up its air links from Dhaka to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Kolkata, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar.

Bangkok and Kolkata routes are operated from Chittagong also. In its flight, there are two Boeing 737-700 and two Dash-8 aircrafts besides the newly procured Boeing 737-800.

The flight movements increased double digits i.e. Muscat International Airport by 15% exceeding 95 000 movements and Salalah International Airport by 21% reaching nearly 9 000 flight movements. General Manager Commercial Operations Oman Airports, Sheikh Samer Al Nabhani stated that Oman airports has witnessed rapid growth over the past years doubling the passenger’s numbers only in the past 5years. This growth was attributed to different passenger mix including business, leisure and tourist travellers from various destination.  Oman Airports is extremely happy on Regent airway’s arrival to Muscat International Airport and to the new enhanced relationship between both parties.
