“Wish you were beer!” Lufthansa launch Oktoberfest flights from London Stansted

Beer lovers from across London and the East of England will be delighted at the un-beer-lievable news Lufthansa is to once again operate a series of special flights from London Stansted to Munich’s world-famous Oktoberfest.
The German flag carrier is offering 14 flights to Munich from 19 September to 5 October, departing at 19:50 from London Stansted and arriving in the Bavarian capital at 22:30 local time using an Airbus A320.
The first departing flight will give festival goers the chance to raise a Masskrug, a one-litre glass stein and the traditional way to serve beer at Oktoberfest, at the opening ceremony that takes place on Saturday 20 September.
An added bonus for fans of football as well as beer is the chance of a long weekend in Munich to see England captain Harry Kane in action at the Allianz Arena for Bayern Munich as the German champions host Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on Saturday 26 September.
Simon Gorrighan, London Stansted’s Aviation Director, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Lufthansa back to London Stansted to once again offer people from across our region an easy and convenient way to experience the world-famous Oktoberfest in Munich.
“Oktoberfest dates back to 1810 and is considered the largest beer festival in the world with over six million visitors each year so we know flights will be in high demand.
“To make sure you share in this fantastic and unique experience, now is the time to take advantage of the great flights and service on offer with Lufthansa and secure your booking with the added benefit of flying from your local airport here at London Stansted.”
Silvia Hadolt, Head of Regional Sales Northern Europe, Lufthansa Group, said:
“We’re delighted to once again partner with London Stansted to offer a seamless connection to Munich just in time for Oktoberfest – a celebration like no other. Lufthansa is proud to bring travellers the ease and convenience of flying from their local airport to experience this iconic event.”
This year’s festival runs from Saturday 20 September to Sunday 5 October at Theresienwiese Park in Munich and offers visitors the chance to celebrate Bavarian culture, enjoy traditional foods including bratwursts the famous German sausage, listen to live music and sample many of region’s most popular beers.
