Chopin Airport - results for March 2020

In March 2020, a total of 513,000 passengers used the services of Warsaw Chopin Airport. It is about 61.7 percent less than in the same period last year.

Since the beginning of 2020, 2.8 million people have been served in international traffic (a decrease of 15.4 percent), while in the domestic about 313.5 thousand (a decrease of almost 20%). However, 2.614 million passengers used the traditional flights (a decrease of 16%), 502,000 passengers low-cost (a decrease of 16.5%), and 310,000 passengers charter (an increase of 5.6%). Most passengers (56.7%) traveled in the Schengen area and 43.3% has chosen destinations to Non-Schengen countries. The #LOTdoDomu campaign, in which thousands of Poles returned to the country, had a great impact on the March result.

In the first quarter, cargo transport aboard all aircraft amounted to 22 251.2 tonnes. The 3.7 percent growth was undoubtedly influenced by the current epidemic situation and the transport of necessary materials for health care to Poland as part of the #CargoDlaPolski campaign. However, the carriage of mail on board all aircraft amounted to 2,841.2 tonnes. A decrease of 25.1 percent was dictated by a much smaller number of shipments made.
